books  are $7 each. Checks should be made out to Cox Middle School.  Please do this anytime by August 15, 2008 so we can get started.  

All students should have the following:

1 inch three ring binder

Pencils

20 clear page protectors

Highlighters

Band book and instrument supplies

7th and 8th grades should have a lyre and flip folder.

 

All 7th and 8th grade students should have a black band shirt purchased through the band.  This shirt with khaki pants will be standard dress for concerts. 

 

                 Welcome back to a new year at Cox Middle School and the award winning Cougar Band Program.  I am looking forward to working with you this year and expect this to be the best year ever. 

                 As always we need to get a few things out of the way to start the year.  First of all, if anyone is interested in heading up the concession stand this year, please let me know ASAP.  This person will help me with inventory, volunteers, supplies and deposits.  Concession workers should be at SHHS between 5:00 and 5:30 pm.  I also need to know who is willing to work in the concession stand.  We have 4 home games this year and we need to make the most with the money raised .  See the calendar

for dates.                 

                 Second, I have already ordered books for class and you may purchase the book through the band program.  This is not a fund raiser but I did round the price up to make payments easier.  This is my effort to help busy parents provide materials for class.  6th grade books are $8 with 6th grade percussion books being $15 (it is actually two books in one). 7th and 8th grade

The Cougar Band has had a website connected to the school website for several years.  There you will find policies, a calendar, announcements, instrument information and a little about Mr. Mitchell. Including his email.

This year the same information will be on www.schoolrack.com.  This

website will be used to update events throughout the year.  Please make a point to check one or both websites from time to time to stay informed. 

Email works great. Mr. Mitchell checks his at least twice a day.
