Early Sign Out
Procedures
If your student has an appointment and needs to sign out early, these procedures need to be followed so that classroom instruction is not interrupted:
Make-Up Work
Each student is responsible for getting phone numbers of classmates to obtain homework assignments in case of absences. Students have three (3) days upon their return to contact teacher to obtain assignments. The front office will be unable to collect students’ make-up work.
Contagious Health
Conditions
If your child should have a contagious health condition such as chicken pox, strep infection, pink eye, fever, head lice, ringworm, impetigo, etc., please treat the condition and keep the child at home until the condition is no longer contagious. If your child has been running a fever, he/shee may return to school after he/she has bee fever-free for 24 hours.
Breakfast and lunch are served daily in the cafeteria. The price of breakfast is $1.20, and the price of lunch with no extras is $2.10. (Restaurant food and/or bottled drinks are not allowed in the cafeteria.) Lunch numbers are issued to students and are not transferable. Students are allowed to charge for a two-day period only. Charging is not allowed during the month of May. Any account balances at the end of the school year will be held in a student’s account until the next school year.
Students may not wear coats, oversized sweatshirts, or jackets into the cafeteria. Students are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly manner when eating in the cafeteria.
The Student Handbook describes specific guidelines for appropriate dress – this will be enforced. The Board of Education recognizes the effect student dress and grooming has upon student behavior and commitment to learning. It further recognizes the role of parents in assisting their children in making appropriate choices regarding clothing, accessories, and personal appearance. In order to maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning and to prepare students for the working environment, the Board of Education shall require that all students, grade K-12, exercise good taste with regard to their personal appearance. Attire considered disruptive or risky to health or safety is not appropriate.
Standardized Dress: Appropriate clothing must cover the student from the shoulders to three inches above the knee.
Students dressed inappropriately will be subject to
disciplinary consequences in accordance with the Maury County Discipline
Handbook, Board Policy 6.300.
In order to maintain a safe environment for all students, fire and safety drills are periodically held to teach the students the proper way to leave the building or find alternative exit routes in an emergency. Fire and safety drill instructions are posted in each classroom. Students are to quietly and quickly follow all directions given by teachers or other school or fire department personnel. Students misbehaving during these safety drills will be subject to disciplinary actions.
