from the Director
to Maury County Public Schools. Our mission is to provide
rigorous and relevant learning environments, to create high
expectations and to encourage our students to become lifelong
learners in preparing our students to be college and/or career
ready. We serve approximately 11,500 kindergarten through
twelfth grade students and operate 21 schools and one alternative
school in our county.
my almost 40 year tenure with MCPS, I’ve had the opportunity to
work with the most talented teachers, administrators and above
all – students. Student growth and achievement is our top
priority along with providing a safe and nurturing school
environment for both students and teachers. As Director of
Schools, my personal goal is to use the MCPS system resources
wisely in achieving student success by accomplishing a 90%
graduation rate, at least a 3% growth every year moving our
students from Basic to Proficient and from Proficient to
Advanced. We accomplish student success through our over 1,500
dedicated administrators, faculty and staff members.
job as director of schools is to work in collaboration with the
highly skilled leaders at the Central Office as we serve,
guide and support each of our departments and school campuses.
We remain student-centered in our decisions, activities and
strategies based on data. While education in Tennessee has
undergone many changes and continues to do so, we persist in our
meaningful focus on student achievement and closing the
achievement gap. I am pleased to work alongside our committed
school board members who approve district
policies and provide guidance and decision-making as well as
adopt the district budget each year.
The MCPS website is for our parents, students, teachers, staff and community
members and I hope you find it resourceful. Individual school
websites are listed under the Visit our Schools tab
and you can find community links
here. You can also find us on
Facebook where we post announcements and
achievements. Another way to keep up with what’s going on in
your district is to read our quarterly newsletters. You are encouraged to be
involved in the many opportunities for engagement in our schools
– your input and time are very valuable and we thank you. Again,
welcome and please contact us if we can be of service in any way.
