Student Activities

 

 

Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader is a computerized reading program for students in grades 1-4. With Accelerated Reader, students are given the opportunity to be successful readers by being allowed to read self-selected books that meet their individual reading needs. Each class at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School participates in daily silent reading time.  Quizzes on books may be taken in the classroom, library, or our new computer lab. Students earn points which can be spent on prizes at the end of the school year. Students may also earn points for field trips, pizza, and other prizes. In addition, individual classroom teachers and grade levels encourage reading success by offering additional incentives to their students.

 

 

Drama Team

Drama team is offered to students in 2^nd, 3^rd, and 4^th grades.  Students try-out at the beginning of the year.  This club is sponsored by Ms. Angela Knight.

 

 

 

Music

Under the direction of Mr. Hovater, students may participate in the Glee Club, Recorder Choir, or String Orchestra.  These groups often perform during school activities such as PTO meetings.  The musical talents of our students are also showcased annually in the Spring Talent Show.
