PROJECT BASIC
better
attitudes
and
skills
in
children

Better Attitudes and Skills In Children (BASIC) has been in operation since the Fall of 1985, serving elementary school students in Tennessee. Project BASIC provides educational, yet entertaining, activities to help students build self esteem and learn decision-making skills. The self-confidence developed by Project BASIC will help students to make good choices now and throughout the ears to come.
Project BASIC is funded by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, Bureau of Health.
Twice a month the Child Development Specialist goes into the classroom, and for thirty (30) minutes, leads the students in activities using stories, booklets and puppets. Through these activities, students develop a better self-concept and, as a result, come to expect more from themselves.
