The first PTA meeting of the year was held on Sept. 11, with a moment of silence being observed to honor the victims of 9/11/01. After the meeting, Nashville guitarist and storyteller, Ms. Sumner, performed with the assistance of several students. Below is a picture of the activity!

We would like to ask you to join the Riverside's Box Tops Booster Club - it's free - all you have to have is a valid e-mail address. Riverside gets 5 extra Box Tops for Education for each address that signs up. That means $.50 for the school per address. That will add up quickly!

To register, simply go to www.boxtops4education.com and click on Sign up for the Box Tops Booster Club (or just click here).After you sign up they will send you an email and you have to click on the confirmation in order for Riverside’s account to be credited. When we get over a certain amount to sign up we get even more bonuses! So please pass this information on the grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and neighbors. You can even sign yourself up more than once if you have more than one e-mail address. THIS IS SO EASY AND SO WORTH IT!!!

I also want to remind everyone of the Box Tops for Education & Campbell’s Labels for Education contest going on between the classes. The class in each grade who sends in the most tops and labels by December 16 will win a class party! So please send them in a Ziploc with the teachers name on it! More information can be found at www.bostops4education.com and www.labelsforeducation.com.

The school also collects Domino Dots and Tyson A+ labels. More info on the Tyson is found at www.tyson.com/projectaplus. You must send in the entire label not just the A+. Please note these are not part of the contest. You may turn these labels in at the office.

The Riverside PTA would like to invite you to be a part of their organization. Please join now! Dues are $4.00 per person and may include parents, grandparents, other family members and friends. Show your support of Riverside PTA by joining today.

Membership does not mean that you MUST attend meetings. Membership means that you DO support the students and teachers of Riverside Elementary School. Send your dues into the classroom teacher in an envelope labeled "PTA membership" and be sure to include each members name, as well as all your children and their teacher's names.
