Foundations II

1 Credit                            Open to 9, 10, 11, 12

This course is for students not ready to enter Algebra I or its equivalent.  It introduces students to basic concepts of algebra including linear equations, inequalities, the rectangular coordinate system , percent and geometry.  All students will take an End-Of-Course exam.

 

Algebra I

2 Credit                            Open to 9, 10, 11, 12

This course is designed for those students who show a thorough understanding of basic arithmetic skills.  This course is a study of concepts of algebra with applications, graphs, and functions.  A two semester course, this course or equivalent (Math Tech II) is required for graduation.  Passing the Gateway Algebra Exam is a requirement for graduation.

 

Geometry

1 Credit                            Open to 9, 10, 11, 12

Pre-requisite:  Algebra I or Math Tech II

A unified course including topics in measurement, geometric patterns, coordinate geometry, two and three dimensional figures, transformational geometry, congruence and similarity.  This course is required for all university path students.

 

Accelerated Geometry

1 Credit                            Open to 9, 10, 11, 12

Pre-requisite:  Algebra I, 93 average in previous non-honor math or 85 average in previous honors math and teacher recommendation.

 

Algebra II

1 Credit                            Open to 10, 11, 12

Pre-requisite:  Algebra I or Math Tech II

This course is a study of solutions of linear and quadratic equations, linear and quadratic inequalities, radicals, matrices, conics, exponential functions, logarithmic functions and systems of equations, polynomial functions, rational expressions, probability, arithmetic sequence and discrete mathematics.  This course is required for university path students.

 

Accelerated Algebra II

1 Credit                            Open to 10, 11, 12

Pre-requisite:  Algebra I and Geometry, 93 average in previous non-honor math or 85 average in previous honors math and teacher recommendation.

 

Pre-calculus

1 Credit                            Open to 11 and 12

This course is a combination of trigonometry and pre-calculus.  This first half of the course is dedicated to understanding graphing and analyzing functions.  The second half of the course is dedicated to the study of trigonometry.  This course is highly recommended for college bound students.

 

Calculus

1 Credit                            Open to 11 and 12

This course covers functions, limits, differentiation and its applications, and integration and its applications.  Calculus is used increasingly in the field of business, biology, medicine and political science.  This course is highly recommended for college bound students.
