These activities were so great, we want to be able to keep sharing them.  They were from the fall of 2000.
We have had a busy time this second six weeks.  Report cards will be coming home Friday, Nov. 17.  You will find lots and lots of pictures if you click on the blue buttons on our page.  First, our class along with the rest of the second grade classrooms went on our first field trip on October 27.  We went to Serenity Hollow Farms.  It was great fun.  We made potpourri bags, went on a hayride, and had a picnic lunch.  After lunch, we saw lots and lots of unusual animals as well as the “regular” farm animals and even got to shuck corn and grind it using a grinding stone which reminded us of the one the Pueblo Indians used in our reading story, “Pueblos of the Southwest”.  We finished up our trip with a visit to the pumpkin patch where each of us got to choose our own pumpkin.

Next, we had a very busy day on October 31.  First, Mrs. Bailey our P.E. teacher took us on a field trip to the Parkway Bowling Lanes.

This was a culminating activity for her bowling unit.  We went with Mrs. Davis’s fourth grade class.  We even got to go “behind the scenes” and watch what actually happened to the pins and the bowling ball after you roll it down the lane.  This was a lot of fun.

We finished off the afternoon with our Halloween party.

We would like to thank all our parents for helping to make this a fun party and a special thank you to Mrs. Tisher for organizing everything.

We also added to our Looney Tune family on October 30th with the arrival of a new student.  It is so nice to have 9 boys and 9 girls again.

November 3 was “Purple and Gold Day” at our school.  This was very special to our class because it was in honor of the Columbia High School Football team who made it to the playoffs.  Mrs. Latta’s youngest son plays for the Lions.  We had three team members and the coach come to visit our class.

We made lions that roared to honor their visit.  We also had a snack for them.  They signed autographs and everything!  It was great fun! (even if they did lose that night.  We tried!!)

It’s always a busy time in our classroom!!
