History in the Making
On May 1, 2001 students and families from throughout Maury County gathered in downtown Columbia to act as a human link from the past to the future.  The first document (Tax Book No. 1, from 1808) to move from the old archives in the county court house to the newly established Maury County Archives Building was passed from person to person between the two locations in a symbolic and meaningful ceremony spearheaded by  County Historian and Archives Director, Bob Duncan.   J. E. Woodard Elementary School was represented by the fourth grade members of our American Heart Association Jump Rope Demonstration Team in this historic act.
