FIRST NINE WEEKS:
Units 1&2

directions, lines of longitude and latitude, equator, north and south poles,
borders, and be able to read a map key.
- Students will identify the 4 major
oceans, continents, hemispheres, and climate and weather of a
place.
- Students will know the difference
between natural resources and finished products.
- Students will use a timeline to
determine the order of a historical sequence of
events.
- Students will determine the
representative acts of a good citizen (obeying the speed limit, not littering,
walking within the crosswalk, etc.)

PROJECT:
Students will construct a compass
rose.
Students
will create one of two maps: an island of their own, or
a playground.
Each nine weeks, I will send you the
skills that will be taught. There will be a project for each grading
period. There will be a time (especially
the 2nd nine weeks) that we will need parent volunteers to help with
a project that Mrs. Hughes and I will be doing together. There may be other
times that we will also need your assistance!
There will be oral/written quizzes in
addition to the graded project. There will also be an end of unit test given at
the end of the nine weeks. A study guide will be provided several days in
advance before the unit test. Look in your child’s assignment book for
information on quizzes.
I am enjoying
working with each one of our wonderful third
graders!
