J. E. Woodard Olympic Celebration 2004

Every four years, much like the International Olympic Committee, our Specialty Teachers organize a school-wide Olympics Celebration.  For our 2004 celebration  we invited dignitaries from our school system to come and speak about sportsmanship.  Since all the specialty teachers work together, all the concepts of the International Olympic Games are emphasised in every class.  In art class, students made participation medals decorated with symbols from the country their class represented.  In music class, students learned olympic-inspired songs.  Guidance sponsored an essay contest about heroes and sportsmanship.  In library, students learned a greeting in the language of their country.  P. E. classes studied how relays work.  We learned about cultures around the world and about the Olympic Games.

Members of the Cross Country Track Team ran the Olympic Torch Relay.
