Welcome Letter and Rules

Dear Parents,

     I would like to welcome you and your child to the fifth grade. I will be teaching Science this year with a hands-on approach. I find this to be both fun and educational for the students. I encourage you and your child to view this as an opportunity, not a chore.

     My plans are to cover Life Science and Physical Science the first semester and Earth Science and the Human Body the second semester. The students will be required to complete one project per grading period. Instructions will be given for each project in proper time for completion. All homework is to be done in cursive; however, projects may be printed for neatness.

     The grading for Science will consist of four areas: 1. Test, 2. Quiz, 3. Project, and 4. Homework. All graded materials will be returned to the students the day after they are taken. If the grade is below 76 I request your signature and return of that paper. If your child is not performing to his/her potential, I will contact you before they are in grade trouble and request your assistance. I am here as a resource for you and your child. I expect the best from your child and in turn will give my best to them.

     There are three rules, consequences, and rewards for behavior in my classroom. I have prepared them for you on the back of this sheet. Please review and sign at the bottom of this sheet showing your approval. I anticipate a great academic year and ask for your support in the educational process of your child.

       Sincerely;
