Homework Policy
Homework is a vital and important part of your child’s learning experience.  I will be assigning homework on most school nights. NO HOMEWORK ON WEEKENDS!!! Students are to copy homework assignments onto their assignment books.  We will go over the assignments in class. Please look over the daily homework and sign the assignment book each day.  Homework should be kept in the homework folder. Homework should be returned in their yellow folder the next day.  Please provide a quiet area with good lighting for your child to work

Volunteers
I am always looking for good volunteers.  If you are interested in helping out this year in my classroom or at home, please send me a note with your phone number. I will contact you in a few weeks.

Birthdays
All children will celebrate their birthday at school with special birthday color sheet, leader, etc. Parents may send birthday treats if they want.  Please keep them simple.  Prepackaged drinks, cookies or cupcakes work well.  I need to know a few days before.  We will celebrate birthdays after recess at 12:45.  Summer birthdays will be celebrated in May.

Toys
Students are not to bring toys to school.  They are very distracting to students and can get lost or broken.  We will have a few special “Toy Days” when students will be invited to bring toys to school.  I will announce these days.  No toy guns, knives or toys that depict violence.

MONEY, MONEY
Collecting money and keeping everyone’s account straight can be very
difficult.   PLEASE SEND ALL MONEY IN ENVELOPES WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME, PURPOSE, AMOUNT AND MY NAME.  This will help me with my classroom bookkeeping.

Math Facts
Please help your students learn basic addition facts through the 10 facts.  We will have timed tests throughout the week.  Flashcards are a good investment to help your child master basic addition facts.

Accelerated Reader
We have access to the computer program Accelerated Reader (AR).  Students can read certain AR books and when they are prepared they can take a computer test and earn reading points.  A few times during the year the students can use their AR points to purchase items from the AR store.  Reading is an essential skill that affects students' success in all academic areas.  Please read with your child and encourage them to read.
