Third Grade Visit with Takako Grimes

On August 15, 2003 our third grade had a visit from Takako Grimes, a neighbor who was born in Japan.  She wore a kimono and obi, brought some Japanese children's books and showed us how some Japanese writing came from nature.  She read a book to us in Japanese.

Mrs. Grimes points out the symbol for 'above' and how it came to be.  On the left you can see the symbol for 'below' and on the right the symbol for 'rain.'
