Mrs. Wilson's Kindergarten Reminders

These are just a few reminders to help you and your child make a smooth transition into Kindergarten:

1. We have P.E. on Tuesday and Friday. Please have your child wear tennis shoes on these days. Children are so disappointed to have to sit and watch only because they have on sandals, hard-soled shoes, or boots.

2. Please don’t let your child bring toys to school. From time to time, I will send a note to request special things be brought from home.  The children really enjoy those special occasions.

3. Each Friday, we will wear the color of the week, until we finish our study of colors.

4. We will have homework sometimes. It will be a simple activity to complete at home. All homework will be returned on Fridays in their homework folder inside notebook.

5. A weekly newsletter will usually come home. This will keep you informed on the things we are doing in our classroom.  A monthly calendar will also come home each month.  Please keep up with this so you can reinforce what we are learning at school.

6. Most importantly: Please send all money in separate envelopes, well marked with:

-your child’s name
-his/her teachers name
-what the money is for
-the amount in the envelope
Lunch money will be turned to the cafeteria.  Please try to pay this on Monday mornings.

7. We will have a daily snack in our classroom. The children will be allowed to by ice-cream at this time. It is $.50 per day. I would like each child to have a coin purse of some kind for this money to be kept in. They will be responsible for keeping this in their backpack until snack time. If your child chooses not to buy ice-cream, please send a snack from home. I will be asking for donations for “emergency snacks.” These will be kept on hand for a day when someone forgets.

8. The teacher must be notified in writing of any changes in transportation home.  If your child does not bring a note, He/she will be sent home his/her usual way. If you want to call the office, please do so before 2:45.

9. Your child’s notebook needs to be checked every night and returned every morning!       This is our mode of communication.

10. READ TO YOUR CHILD EVERYDAY! THIS IS THE GREATEST GIFT YOU CAN GIVE THEM!

Thank you for your cooperation in the education of your child!
