MRS.CLAY'S CLASS_MPES  Mrs. Clay's second grade class at
Mpes  celebrated the 100th day of school recently.  They read 100 books, wrote 100 words, practiced 100 math problems, and skip counted to 100.  The children brought in 100 items that were used to construct a picture.  The day was completed as the children made necklaces using 100 beads.

 
PENGUIN STUDY_MPES 

Mrs. Clay's second grade class at MPES has been studying penguins.  The children were able to access the computer lab to learn about penguins and the Antacartic.  They read books about penguins and did many skills using the penguin theme.  As a culmination the children made different kinds of penguins to scale along with a report about that kind of penguin.  These were enjoyed by all visitors as they passed by in the hall.

JBES BEAR WALK 

On February 25, 2010 the PTA sponsored our JOSEPH BROWN Bear Walk. Students and teachers enjoyed themselves and brought in canned food to be collected for the Harvest Share Food Pantry.

 
FOOD DRIVE-WES 

  

The J. E. Woodard Elementary School Student Council sponsored a food drive.  Students at the school collected 4,910 containers of non-perishable food.

On February 11th our wonderful friend at Barnes and Noble, Robbie Bryan, set up an author visit with Mrs. Amy K. Rosenthal who is publishing her newest book, THE WONDER BOOK.  She shared a lot of insight with the students at Riverside.  Thank you Mrs. Sherry Jackson (Riversides' Librarian) for helping to make this program possible.

Congratulations to Mrs. Claritha Buchannan, she has won the Maury County Teacher of the Year Award and will continue to compete with teachers across Tennessee.  She is currently teaching second grade at RIVERSIDE ELEMENTARY and we are all so proud!
